Changing your User ID on Hawaiian Electric’s website
By Kellen Kawamura | Jan. 18, 2022
As I get older, the number of accounts I need to manage has skyrocketed and having to remember all my login information for every website makes me want to pull my hair out. For most of these accounts, there is usually only one way to log on — you need to remember your user ID.
At Hawaiian Electric, we listened to our customers’ suggestions and made an update to our website so customers can log in with their User ID or email address to view their electric bills. Not many know of this change, which was implemented in July 2020. I learned of this when I started working at Hawaiian Electric and began helping customers get into their online account.
Also, I often receive customer inquiries about forgetting their user ID. Another change that we made allows customers to change their User ID without calling us. When I mention this to customers, they are often surprised to hear how easy it is to log in and change their user ID.
Here are simple instructions to do this on your own when you want to change your user ID:
- Log in to your online account using your associated email instead of your User ID.
- Enter the last four-digit of your SSN or PIN for verification if you have your PIN set up.
- When you’re logged in successfully, click on the “My Profile” tab.
- Right under your name, you’ll be able to see a box that displays your “User ID”.
- Enter your new desired User ID and make sure to save by clicking the “Save Contact Info” box below.
Remember, you can always log in to your online account with your User ID or email address. You also can change your own User ID at any time. We hope these tips save you time — and prevent you from pulling out your hair.
