For many years my family relied on paper electric bills to notify us of our balance and when to pay it. Our paper bills would at times get lost in delivery or accidentally thrown away, and our busy lives made it stressful to remember to call and request a new bill to be mailed again.

This issue was resolved when I created an online account for my household on the Hawaiian Electric website. It was a simple task and only took five steps. After creating a Hawaiian Electric online account, I have instant access to my present and past electric bills.

When you register for an online account with us, you can make bill payments toward your balance, submit start/stop service requests, check energy usage, and print bills at any time. This is convenient for customers, saving them (and me) time. I don’t have to worry anymore when it gets close to my billing due dates. Additionally, it also helps us reduce our carbon footprint.

Once an electric service account is created with Hawaiian Electric, customers will receive an account number on their first electric bill.

Customers that have electrical service can register for an online account by going through five easy steps below:

Step 1: Enter valid account number and area zip code.

Step 2: Enter last four of account holder’s SSN.

Step 3: Select billing option between paper bills or electronic billing (email).

Step 4: Create account username and password for account log in. Usernames cannot have special characters and must be alphanumeric.

Be sure to set a password that has a minimum of 12 characters, is case sensitive, and contains at least one capital letter, lowercase letter, number and special character.

Step 5: Check your email and enter the verification code received. The verification code will be sent to the email you entered for your online account. (It’s important to complete this verification step or you won’t be able to log in to the Online Customer Service Center.)

Sample of email you will receive with a code for validation

Once the verification step is completed, you should be able to log in and see your Hawaiian Electric bills. You also can access your online account from the HECO mobile app or a mobile browser by going to hawaiianelectric.com/myaccount at any time!
