The Electric Kitchen video cookbook

The Electric Kitchen is getting some upgrades! My Digital Communications team members at Hawaiian Electric have been busy creating some short and fun cooking videos to highlight our popular The Electric Kitchen recipes. These videos are available on our YouTube page and published in Foodie Friday posts on our social media pages.
I’m used to going to YouTube to learn things because it seems like there’s a how-to video for just about everything. Apparently TikTok is all the rage for cooking videos as well. For me, watching a quick 1-minute video on how to prepare a dish makes it easier to cook something that I’m not familiar with for the first time. You also can see what the ingredients look like, the size of the chopped pieces, coloring, etc. — things that you can’t get from written recipe instructions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders, cooking at home has become more popular than usual, and I’ve noticed a corresponding uptick in traffic to the recipe pages on our website. In addition to more page hits, we’re also getting more interaction from our visitors who are leaving recipe reviews and ratings.
With the goal of improving our customers’ experience navigating the Electric Kitchen, I’ve been working to roll out a new feature for our recipe pages that allows us to embed these cooking tutorial videos directly on the recipe page to go along with the written list of ingredients and instructions.
In the spirit of putting everything together in the same place, I thought it would be useful to compile a quick list of these recipe pages that include how-to videos. You can browse through our updated recipes below as a “Video Cookbook” — making our The Electric Kitchen recipes fun and easy for all levels of stay-at-home cooks. You got this!
